Event Description

Anyone can become a Compost Specialist volunteer! Participants who complete the 2-day course donate a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer time helping others in the community learn about the benefits of compost. Activities include, staffing booths at community events such as home shows, the Lane County Fair, and Art and the Vineyard. Volunteers give free community demonstrations on composting at local compost education sites, participate in research into new topics in composting, support school composting projects, and create individual projects that help to spread the message about the benefits of composting organic debris at home. Print the registration form and send in with your payment, or sign up online.

While I was in Winchester Bay to take sunset photos Sunday night, I saw such a huge number of seagulls soaring very high in the sky. There were tens of thousands of them and they were flying hundreds of feet in the air.
