Event Description
A full night of family fun is scheduled for Wednesday, July 21 at the Broadway Plaza in Downtown Eugene. City of Eugene and Ninkasi Brewing present a night of music featuring the champions of two local best-band competitions, preceded by some rip-roaring dodgeball games.
The whole evening will take on a rosy hue, thanks to Oregon Imaging Centers, sponsors of the 2010 Komen Eugene Race for the Cure and a partner in this “Summer in the City” event. Oregon Imaging will donate $1 to the 2010 Eugene Race for every audience member wearing pink. Plus, to lend their support for Komen Oregon, the band members, volunteers – even the dodgeballs – will dress in pink.
The fun begins at 6:00 pm with dodgeball, kids’ art activities at M.E.C.C.A.’s Imagination Station, information about the 2010 Race for the Cure at Oregon Imaging Centers’ “Pink Tent” and more. Pink T-shirts will be on sale for those who want to increase the level of donations to Komen Oregon but don’t possess the necessary wardrobe.
Music starts at 7:00 pm. Featured musical guests include Volifonix – Funky, high-energy, Southern-inspired rock from Oakland Oregon. They played at Bumbershoot in 2009 and opened for Everclear in February. Also, Sea Bell – A nine-piece-plus indie/folk/roots band made up of current UO students. Smart, folksy, and melodic, with instruments as varied as trumpet and ukelele, and song titles borrowed from Tolkien novels.
