Elissa Harrington

Elissa Harrington is an award winning journalist who joined the news team in May 2007. She works as a reporter.

Elissa has a very diverse background in broadcast journalist that stems overseas and covers reporting, anchoring, and producing on both radio and television.

Elissa was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and made her way to the Northwest in 2002 to attend the University of Oregon. During her time at the U of O, Elissa studied Journalism and French and worked as the sports anchor and producer for Duck-U TV. She also studied abroad in Sydney, Australia where she interned as a news reporter for 2GB radio, Sydney's #1 talk station. It was in Sydney where she got her feet wet doing field reporting. She conducted interviews with high-ranked government officials including former Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Kevin Rudd who is now the Prime Minister of Australia. She also shadowed Olympic Athletes as they trained for 2004 games in Athens, met with Australian soldiers as they returned home from war, and followed high profile police cases.

Elissa's dedication for journalism continued upon her return to the U.S. She landed an internship with Clear Channel radio in Eugene that soon into a reporting and producing job at KPNW. Most recently, Elissa worked at KQKE radio in San Francisco.

In less than a year, Elissa racked up two awards from the Associated Press: 1st place for best news writing and 3rd place for best hard news. Some of her most memorable stories include interviewing presidential hopeful Barack Obama during his campaign trail in Oregon, and breaking the oh-so popular Virgin Mary pretzel story which made national and international headlines.

Elissa has a passion for world travel and learning about other cultures. So far, she's traveled through four continents and 14 different countries. In her spare time, she also enjoys music, reading, cheering for the Ducks, and exploring Oregon's outdoors.
