Widespread power outages; storms disrupt school

An estimated 4,000 people lost power as a powerful storm moved through Lane County Thursday afternoon, and some schools warned students could be held at school or delivered home late as a result of the storm.

Lane Co. Schools:

Junction City: Due to severe thunderstorm warning, buses may be delayed in dropping off students at home and walkers may be held until the storm passes.

Electric utility:

Power Emerald People's Utility District experienced widespread outages due to high winds, trees in the line, and lightning. Affected areas include Cottage Grove, Saginaw, Veneta, Clear Lake, Noti and Elmira. Approximately 4,000 Customer-Owners were affected. EPUD crews are currently dispatched and the estimated time of restoration is still unknown. Official updates will be issued as status changes.
