Sunrays for Sunset Tonight!
Another possible shark sighting?
By Joe Raineri KVAL WeatherThe Oregon Coast is seeing more large fish swimming along the ocean blue and we're not talking about tuna fish ... we're talking about sharks. It's been a couple of weeks already since a fisherman caught a great white after it got snagged on a crab pot line in Depoe Bay. But can you believe another one has been spotted? Several surfers were out in the water along South Beach Jetty in Newport where they say they saw a 15 to 20 foot great white. We talked to an employee who was working at Ossie's Surf Shop when the surfers came in over the weekend. She tells us they definitely saw what they say was a shark. We called the Oregon State Police in Newport who said they never heard of any sighting. The manager at the South Beach State Park said nothing like that happened over the weekend. If your wondering why there are more shark sightings, it's because of the warmer summer waters that's attracting these animals to our area. Have you seen any? Let us know. Most Popular |

Storm clouds help make some beautiful sunrays before and during sunset. These were taken 05/21/2013 around the Salmon Harbor Marina. While I was in Winchester Bay to take sunset photos Sunday night, I saw such a huge number of seagulls soaring very high in the sky. There were tens of thousands of them and they were flying hundreds of feet in the air. I always enjoy attending these reenactments. Especially since at one time I was a member of this group. A really nice bunch of people. |
