Albany Visitors Association (AVA) and the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce have signed a memorandum of understanding which names AVA the Destination Marketing Organization for the Brownsville community. This new relationship will benefit both organizations by creating some new opportunities.
"My staff and I are looking forward to working closely with Brownsville," said Jimmie Lucht, Executive Director of Albany Visitors Association. "Travel Oregon and Willamette Valley Visitors Association look to AVA to represent all of Linn County. It truly helps to be familiar with the other communities in the area, like Brownsville. This closer relationship will help the AVA staff to have a better understanding of the events and attractions there when pitching story ideas to the media and creating ads."
Lucht points out that this arrangement will "buy" approximately 12 hours per month of additional staff time. This time will be used to place ads, maintain the Brownsville website and attend meetings and events, etc. AVA's staff member, Bridget Sheffler, will be the lead person working with Brownsville. Elizabeth Groves was Brownsville's Marketing coordinator for the last two years and has done a fine job. She, however, will be moving out of the area soon. For the remainder of January Elizabeth will be working with Bridget to ensure a seamless transition.
