Talks continue on a deal that could bring a shut down west Eugene factory back to life.

Since last year, the Hynix computer chip plant has stood silent. Now the Uni-Chem company from South Korea wants to buy the plant for a reported $50 million. Those talks are still going on.

The volunteers include firefighters, Red Cross workers and sorority and fraternity members from the UO.

Let me tell you, we were bagging machines. In a few hours we put 5,100 pounds of oatmeal in individual bags.

Here's some news from the Bethel School District.

Malabon Elementary has been awarded $45,000 in federal stimulus dollars to retrofit lighting fixtures in parts of the school. Fairfield Elementary has been granted $13,000 for a similar retrofit.

Traffic will be slow on Highway 126W this Friday night as the Oregon Dept. of Transportation paves two bridges between Eugene and Veneta.

Weather permitting, the project will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 9 and be completed by 6:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10.

Communities Baby OK, father last seen in Bethel Baby OK, father last seen in Bethel
A man took his 18-month-old daughter from a home in west Eugene early Thursday morning in violation of a restraining order and was believed to be on his way to Mexico with the child, police said.

The baby was found OK later in the day.
