FBI: Tall Man Bandit caught by long arm of the law
The FBI suspects the same man robbed 6 banks in the span of 5 weeks.

PORTLAND, Ore. - The long arm of the law may have caught up with the Tall Man Bandit.

FBI agents on Thursday arrested the man accused of robbing a bank in Eugene on Monday.

Investigators believe Chet Evans, 25, robbed the Key Bank on Coburg Road on March 18, the 6th area bank he is suspected of robbing over a 5-week period.

Evans was found near the intersection of NE Interstate and NE Sumner in Portland just before 11 a.m.

He will be booked into the Lane County Jail ahead of his initial appearance in federal court Friday, the FBI said.

The FBI dubbed the suspect the Tall Man Bandit due to his height. Victims described the robber as 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4. Evans is 6-foot-2.

Investigators on Monday announced a $2,000 reward for his capture after the Key Bank robbery.

The FBI said they believe the same man robbed a bank in Lane County last Friday, plus 4 earlier robberies dating back to mid-February.

The FBI announced Evans faced charges in Monday's robbery on Thursday and issued a photograph and description of him.
