Truck crash injures man, starts fire, lands driver in jail

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Neighbors tended to an injured man and put out a small fire after a drunk driver crashed into a tree at high speed Wednesday evening, Springfield Police said.

Officers arrived on scene on West Centennial and Anderson and found a truck had hit a tree. Both airbags deployed.

The passenger was on the sidewalk, where neighbors had offered comfort. Other neighbors put a small fire started by the crash, police said.

Police said an amublance took Jerimiah Wanoka Millier, 28, to the hospital for treatment.

The officers conducted a DUII investigation, which led to the arrest of driver Ricardo Ramon Leclaire, 27, on charges DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering and Assault IV.
