WeCar gives UO students access to a Prius by the hour or day

Enterprise Rent-A-Car sent us this press release regarding a new program that allows University of Oregon students to rent a Toyota Prius by the hour or day. Check it out:

Students heading back to the University of Oregon have a new transportation option awaiting them – WeCar, a car-sharing program by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The program gives students, faculty and staff 24-hour access to two Toyota Priuses hourly, overnight, or for a full day to run errands or even for short weekend trips.

WeCar gives students an environmentally friendly alternative to bringing a car to campus – providing a solution to crowded parking lots, and an option to avoid car rental age restrictions and financial concerns associated with having a car on campus. The University of Oregon is the first WeCar program at a university in Oregon, and Enterprise's WeCar car-sharing program is offered on several other campuses across the nation.

The vehicles are parked conveniently on campus near the Living-Learning Center, and the application and rental process is fully automated. Once a student or faculty member is signed up, he or she can make reservations within minutes of when they need the car. WeCar allows members to maintain the benefits of a personal car while only paying for the vehicle when they use it.
