Motorcyclist in critical condition after hitting deer

MONROE, Ore. - A motorcyclist collided with a deer Monday night, critically injuring the rider and killing the deer, Oregon State Police said.

Adam Scott Hansen, 35, of Veneta was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, where he is in critical condition.

Hansen was wearing a protective helmet.

He was northbound on Territorial Highway south of Monroe when his 1989 Honda motorcycle hit a deer in the travel lane around 7:50 p.m.

Hansen suffered serious injures as the motorcycle came to rest on the edge of the road.

The deer was found dead at the scene.
