The Oregonian up in Portland is touting our fair city as a low-cost destination for a weekend getaway.
Writer Laura Oppenheimer recently spent a weekend staying at the Whiteaker Hostel, and of course she couldn't resist pointing out at least one Eugene stereotype (Grateful Dead towels in this case).
But she does paint a very nice picture of the 'hood, and the rest of the town, too.
The Portland foodies will probably now want to check out Pizza Research Institute after her description of their Granny Smith apple, gouda and roasted walnut pizza.
And of course no respectable travel writer would visit Whiteaker without checking out Off the Waffle, maybe the most talked about new joint in town this year.
