JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Two members of the Willamette High School team that won the Extreme Auto Shop Smackdown have landed themselves a job at Guaranty Chevrolet after the dealer saw the segment on KVAL News.

The team beat Springfield High School by rebuilding a 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle

Willamette's auto shop teacher recommended Josh Johns (at right) and Nick White (below) to try out for summer positions at Guaranty.

"I've always wanted to get my foot in the door someplace," Johns said, "someplace I could hopefully become a mechanic at because that's something I love to do."

"I thought it was great learning how to restore a car," White said. "Got a job out of it, it's just a really good time."

The boys will be washing cars and job shadowing mechanics.

"Guaranty Chevrolet in Junction City just hired 2 Willamette High Auto Shop students for summer work after watching their team win the recent Auto Shop Extreme Smackdown competition with Springfield High," Shannon Nill from Guaranty Chevrolet wrote to KVAL News. "On board now are Josh Johns and Nick White. They will wash cars and do some job shadowing in Auto Service. Willamette High Auto Shop Instructor Allyn Wilson recommended these young men due to their extra effort in earning the recent competition. Guaranty wants to salute Al Peterson & KVAL for their vision and follow through on a great job on this training and career building exercise."
