Unemployed workers enjoy a day at the salon

EUGENE, Ore. -- Losing your job may have you cutting costs on luxury items like the salon, but one local salon is offering a day of beautification for those feeling the pain of an ugly economy.
After hearing countless stories from clients about people losing their jobs, Majesty Salon was prompted to do something about it. The salon has dedicated a day of pampering for the unemployed.
"Everyone has something that they can give," said Trisha Miller.
The event was held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Miller is a stylist at Majesty who has dedicated her time and talent to people in need. She said the salon has been planning the event for weeks.
"I think it's a wonderful opportunity to donate our skills to the community and help out where needed. Make people feel good and successful," said Sara Waters.
Megan McNutt said she envisioned the idea for the salon. After receiving an outpouring of support from the community and sponsors they are ready to kick off the event.
Even though the staff is offering a free day of pampering, they said they hope people leave with more than the service they received.
"We hope that people come in get a great haircut and fell good about themselves. And feel like they can go back out there and apply for jobs," said McNutt.
I took this photo about 10 AM, but since it was in the shade of one of our trees, I decided to use the flash and it made it look more like I had taken it at night.
While plucking dead blossoms from my Petunia plant I noticed this unusual spider so decided to take a photo of it. After loaded the shot in my computer I saw that the design on it's back looked like some sort of 'space alien'. Interesting. Enjoy.
Saw smoke from a lightening strike in the hills above our place. Flew my RC plane with camera to check out the smoke. At the same time we alerted the fire department and explained we had a drone checking out the situation.
