Local volunteers were hard at work Sunday getting barrels ready to collect supplies for homeless animals in Lane County.

You'll soon see about 20 collection barrels throughout Lane County for the 7th annual "Presents for Pets" drive. Organizers with the Bearen Foundation say the most needed items are food, medicine, blankets and toys.

Last year they collected nearly 3,000 pounds worth of items for homeless pets. They also hope this event will help inspire people to adopt a homeless animal.
