'I got to go to Eugene Celebration!'
EUGENE, Ore. - Twenty-eight years after its inception, the Eugene Celebration still knows how to throw a party drawing a city-wide guest list.
From food, to music, even shopping, there's something for everyone.
"I think that Eugene definitely has something going on that other places don't," Matthew Evans said of his first celebration experience, "in the sense that everyone feels the coming together and being creative."
Bob Shaw has been coming to the Eugene Celebration since it began. In fact, it was one of his first dates with wife Rosemarie.
"One time somebody had their wedding on the weekend," Shaw said. "I said I'm sorry I can't go to your wedding, I got to go to Eugene celebration!'"
For Tom Smith, who works the Royal Cuisine stand, the best part of the celebration is the music coming from a stage only about 100 yards from the booth. But it wouldn't be a party without the food.
"We're making curly fries, corn dogs," Smith said. "We make big corn dogs! Hand-dipped right here on the spot!"
One of their biggest sellers: the "Baconator."
