NEAR EUGENE - A McMinnville man is in critical condition after being shot by another man today (Saturday) southwest of Eugene.

Lane County officials say the incident happened just before 12 noon.
Sheriff's Deputies and Lane Rural Fire District medics responded to the report of a gun shot wound on Bureau of Land Management Road 19-5 near milepost 22.

Authorities say 20 year old Jesse Solomon McGlaughlin was hit by a single bullet. Deputies allege 28 year old Derek Madsen of Veneta had fired into some brush near the road where McGlaughlin was located.

Authorities say neither man knew each other. Dispatchers tonight (Saturday) would not say if the shooting was accidental, or whether it was a hunting related incident, or any other details.

No arrest has been made and the investigation continues.
