Will you be my Pugentine?

PORTLAND, Ore.- When Valentine's Day comes to mind, many people think of red roses, chocolates, fine wine and a nice dinner with your significant other.

Then there’s the other people who prefer to spend Valentine's Day with their flat-nosed friend: the pug.

Pug people really love their pugs, as evidenced as the Pugentine Party.

Pacific Pug Rescue is a non-profit organization that has put on the Pugentine event for the last two years to help raise money for homeless pugs. >>> Video | Photo Gallery

The event takes place at Splendorporium, an art space as part of Art4Life in Southeast Portland, which donates the space.

Owners are encouraged to bring their pugs (adopted or not) to come and socialize with other dogs and people.

There’s a costume contest with prizes, food, wine and of course dog treats.

The main goal for this event is to raise money for medical cost of needy pugs and to get people to think of adoption.

A number of available pugs were present and ready to go home to a new and loving family.
