COTTAGE GROVE - A local firefighter has died after losing his year long battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.

Tim Wilson of Cottage Grove has been a volunteer firefighter with South Lane Fire and Rescue for ten years. The 44-year old died in his sleep early this morning.

You might remember Wilson from a story KVAL covered back in October. Wilson was no longer able to make it to the fire station so instead, his comrades and co-workers came to him.

Not only does Wilson leave behind great friends but also a loving family including two daughters and his wife, Shelley.
