EUGENE, Ore. - Thelma Gilreath turned 103 years old Wednesday.
The Eugene native (born in 1908) has lived here her entire life.
Her family and friends packed the Lone Oak Assisted Living Community on Wednesday to help her celebrate her birthday.
Thelma, who loves to garden, said she lived independently until she was 101.
Her daughter and grandaughter say she's taught them a lot of lessons over the years.
"She taught us how to sew and how to cook. As long as she could, she was working in her yard doing her own yard work. She's just a hard worker."
Her secret to staying 103 years young?
Thelma said staying active and attending church.
And what's the best part about being 103?
"The good Lord has been good to me," she said, "and I appreciate that."
