Hannah Cole seeks a "Yes" for a dress for a 2012 wedding to childhood friend Alan Twigg.

EUGENE, Ore. - Hannah Cole is on the hunt for the perfect wedding dress.

"It's been pretty overwhelming," said Cole.

She's getting married next August to her childhood friend Alan Twigg.

"We reconnected last summer, and it's been absolutely incredible," she said.

On this day, Twigg, Cole's mother and friends are helping her pick her dress at Blush Bridal Boutique in Eugene.

"I'm trying to learn all the different styles and features and it's very fascinating," said Twigg.

Shows like "Say Yes to the Dress" and others have thrust the ritual of buying a wedding dress into the spotlight.

Cole said she doesn't feel quite like the girls on the show, but she knows what they're going through, which makes having family and friends input is key.

"I definitely love their feedback, to see you know what strikes them as something that fits my style," said Cole.

In another part of the store, bride Jerica LaDuke tried on dresses for the second time.

She just got engaged, but still isn't sure what she's looking for.

"I liked ones that I didn't think I would like at all," she said.

Summer weddings are less than a year away, and store owner Teresa Parsons said she's heading into her busiest time of year.

"Mermaid, ball gowns, drop waist, fit to flare, it can get pretty emotional," said Parsons.

But all the emotion is worth it in the end.

"It's their big day," she said, "a lot of girls have been dreaming about it since they were six-years old."

According to, an average bride will buy her wedding dress nine months before the wedding.
The average cost of a dress? Over $1,200.

Parsons said at her Blush Bridal, they have a variety of sizes and price points for every bride.

Back in her bridal suite, after trying on dress after dress, Cole tried just one more. A lace dress with a keyhole back.

It's exactly what she's been looking for. "I've found nothing that comes close to the feeling I have when this is on."

On this day, Cole said yes to her dress.

"As soon as I got the dress, now everything kind of falls into place."
