Christopher Boots made local headlines when he was arrested in 1983 for the murder of a convenience store clerk in Thurston.

He was convicted, and later cleared of the murder charge, but now he faces a new set of legal problems after being arrested earlier Wednesday.

Christopher boots was taken into custody early Wednesday at a house in west Eugene. The arrest takes place nearly 13 years after he was freed from prison.

Police say Metahmphetamine, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of money were seized from this house in Eugene.

Early Wednesday deputies with the Lane County Sheriff's Office and members of the Eugene Police Department's SWAT Team served a search warrant looking for Christopher Boots. They found him at the home along with Alisha Callis.

Sgt. Clint Rley of the Lane County Sheriff's Office says they had been investigating boots for some time and were aware of his past.

Back in 1987 Boots was convicted of the 1983 murder of convenience store clerk Raymond Oliver.

Another man Eric Proctor was convicted the following year.

In 1994, after serving eight years in prison, Boots and Proctor were freed when new information surfaced that another man, Rchard Kuppens had allegedly committed the crime.

Kuppens however committed suicide the day before he was to be arrested after learning authorities had found a link between him and the murder weapon.

Boots and Proctor eventually sued the Springfield Police and others, and each received a one-million dollar settlement.

Christopher Boots and Alisha Callis were released from the Lane County Jail this evening.

Both suspects face charges of possession of drugs.
