Thousands left in the dark thanks to winter storm
LANE COUNTY - The accumulation of wet, heavy snow has also left thousands of households in the dark. EWEB said they've responded to more than seventy separate power outages in their district alone.
"It's a busy day," said EWEB Public Affairs Manager Marty Douglass. "We have lots of outages throughout Eugene, most of them small usually caused by snow weighing down tree branches that then break off and come down on to power lines."
EWEB had hoped to have everybody up and running again by later Sunday. Lane Electric also reported outages in Veneta, Crow and Lorane. More than 2,000 EPUD customers were without power at one point. The largest hit area was Cottage Grove.
