Oregon protestors rally to end the Iraq war
EUGENE - Protestors are responding to the Iraq conflict anniversary and President Bush's address, with anti-war vigils and rallies.

About 20 anti-war activists gathered outside the Old Federal Courthouse in Eugene to mark the fifth anniversary of the U.S. led invasion into Iraq.

This was just one of many demonstrations around the country where protestors are making their voices heard.

Wednesday morning, activists in Cottage Grove braved the rain to make their point.

"Angry, frustrated at times, hopeful though. I mean, I think we're in an election season so we're hoping that the candidates will hear what the majority of Americans are saying now," said Scott Burgwin with anti-war group, "Stand for Peace."

Polls have shown a gradual drop in support for the war since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's Regime.

The low point for approval came last year when opinion surveys showed roughly seven out of ten Americans opposed the war.

About ninety Oregon soldiers have lost their lives within the past five years. Activists say these demonstrations will continue until there's a full troop withdrawal.
