GLIDE, Ore. - A second school bus accident in Douglas County in two days involved a Glide School District bus on the North Umpqua Highway just after 7 o'clock Wednesday morning.

Three students suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The bus was taking students to Glide High School and went off Highway 138 and into a ditch about 20 miles east of Glide.

Oregon State Trooper Jason Stedman said the driver went right through a sweeping curve and then tried to straighten it out before going into the ditch.

"He traveled about 374 feet in the ditch, impacted several boulders, some medium sized boulders, did fairly good damage to the right side of the bus and damaged one of side's rims of the bus," said Stedman.

Stedman said the bus hit a road sign and a large boulder near the back part of the bus.

There were 10 students sitting in the back of the bus during the time of the accident.

"Three of them sustained minor injuries, one of the females sustained about a golf ball-sized knot on her head and then two other males subjects had complained of knee pain and another had injured his right arm," said Stedman.

Officers believe the driver was traveling 50 to 55 miles an hour during the accident.
