Runaway posed as hurricane survivor

CANYONVILLE, Ore. (AP) - A Canyonville teenager who ran away from home more than a year ago has been found in San Francisco.

Police say Joshua Stoll-Underwood left his family home in December 2006. Last week, detectives received information about a teenage boy living in a group home in San Francisco, who told authorities that he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

State investigators looking into the story determined the boy's story was fictitious and that he may be Stoll-Underwood.

The parents of the now 16-year-old boy traveled to San Francisco on Friday and determined it was their son.

The family will be returning to Oregon in the next few days.
