Cops say man had 16 pounds of pot

Oregon State Police troopers arrested a California man last Thursday during a traffic stop on Highway 97 about 5 miles south of Klamath Falls after finding 16 pounds of marijuana.

According to OSP Lieutenant Steve Nork, on July 10 at approximately 9:55 a.m., an OSP trooper driving southbound on Highway 97 near milepost 280 observed a 2003 Honda Civic two-door displaying California license plates nearly drive off the highway.  The trooper turned around and stopped the car driven by Stephen James Bridges, 44, from Lafayette, Calif.

Subsequent investigation during the stop led to the discovery of approximately 16  1/2 pounds of marijuana in two bags inside the car. An OSP drug detection canine helped during the stop.

Bridges was taken into custody and lodged at Klamath County Jail for Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Distribution of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana.
