ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Oregonians are remembering the firefighters killed last week in the crash of a helicopter in Northern California.

In Ashland on Sunday, parishoners at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church talked about 19-year-old David Steele.

The Reverend Sean Weeks said Steele was involved in youth programs and outreach ministries. Weeks said he was "just a humble, quiet" guy who played football and rugby.

A memorial service for 25-year-old Scott Charlson is planned in Eugene on Monday morning.

A pilot and a U.S. Forest Service employee died in the crash along with seven firefighters for the Southern Oregon contractor Grayback Forestry.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski orderd flags be flown at half mast all week in honor of the firefighters.
