EUGENE, Ore. -- A bullet struck a man inside a Eugene home early Sunday morning while he was setting up a drumset.

Police issued a press release Monday afternoon asking for the public's assistance solving the shooting. Eugene police detectives are asking anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in that area to call (541) 682-5187.

A neighbor and several witnesses reported hearing three to four gunshots.

Police heard about the incident when Sacred Heart Hospital University District called 911 to report a 35-year-old male gunshot victim had been dropped off at the hospital by another man.

The victim was treated and released for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The victim and other witnesses told police he was in a converted room in the back of the garage of a residence in the 1100 block of Taft Street.

The bullet came from outside the home, possibly from a nearby bike path, according to police. The shooting happened between 5:30 and 6 a.m.
