EUGENE, Ore. -- After 16 years in downtown Eugene, the owner of the A&W and Taco Time is quitting business at the downtown location.

Investors are redeveloping the building across the street, and a new rule banning criminal from downtown goes into effect soon.

It all comes too late for Dave Glazier, who blames the bad economy for the restaurant's demise.

"I'm disappointed we couldn't make it work," said owner Dave Glazier. "It's cost me a lot of money, and to have to close it is sad."

The rising cost of food, gas and the minimum wage have dragged the business down, he said.

The news disappointed people who are sad to lose another downtown business.

Glazier expects someone else will succeed here, but says they should be ready to embrace the downtown culture.
