ALVADORE, Ore. - A Junction City man died Saturday evening after crashing his motorcycle.

It happened about 7 p.m. on Alvadore Road near Sanborn Road, southwest of Junction City, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say 63-year-old Roger D. Brooks lost control of a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle on a curve, and the bike traveled through a ditch and struck a culvert and fence post before stopping. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brooks was wearing a helmet.

Authorities don't believe alcohol played a role but say speed possibly was a factor in the crash.

They add there was second person on the motorcycle that authorities were looking for Saturday.
