Cyclist killed in collision with log truck

PHILOMATH, Ore. -- A bicyclist died in a collision with a log truck outside of Philomath this morning.

Edward Paul Bomber, 48, from Corvallis, Ore., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office is working to identify the male victim and notify next of kin, according to Lt. Greg Ridler.

The bicyclist and log truck were travelling in opposite directions on 13th Avenue. The truck made a lefthand turn and the bicyclist made a righthand turn onto Chapel Driive. The collision occured during the turn.

The log truck was being driven by Robert A. Phinney, 54, from Siletz, Ore.
