EUGENE, Ore. -- Fresh flowers still mark the spot where 27-year-old David Minor died in a bike crash in June.

"He meant a lot to a lot of people," said Minor's longtime friend Josh Goldfarb.

Goldfarb wanted a permanent way for the community to remember Minor. So he and his dad, Ronny, have dedicated their business to his memory, with The David Minor Theater. It's Eugene's first brew theater.

"It just was a concept that it was time for in Eugene since there are eleven or twelve of them in Portland," said Ronny Goldfarb.

"Dave really liked to have fun," said Josh Goldfarb. "The idea of having a theater named after him and it being Eugene's first beer theater, I think that's something he would have enjoyed also."

The theater will hold about 50 people and will serve local beer, wine, chocolate and popcorn. KVAL News asked Ronny Goldfarb if it was hard opening a business in these tough economic times.

"Part of opening the theater was actually in response to the economy in that people still want entertainment and people still like having a beer or a glass of wine even during tougher times," said Ronny Goldfarb.

The Goldfarb's said they have a lot of work to do before the Oct. 17 grand opening. But they will be ready to share their business and their memories of Minor with movie goers.

On the ticket for the Oct. 17 premiere? Ironman. Coincidentally, Josh Goldfarb said that was the last movie David Minor saw before he passed away.

The David Minor Theater is on the corner of Pearl and Fifth streets in Eugene. It's in the same building as Ronny's Audio Vision.
