Wyden addresses his bailout vote
EUGENE, Ore. -- Barack Obama held a volunteer mobilization event in downtown Eugene on Saturday. Obama's campaign is focusing on voter registration with the deadline coming up in three days. Senator Ron Wyden attended the event.
KVAL News asked him about county payments and the bailout bill.
"The timber payments wouldn't have been in what the Senate and House voted in if it wasn't for that conversation I had with Harry Reid," said Wyden. "He asked me how I wanted to proceed. I told him I was leaning against the bailout but I wanted the timber payment legislation which I wrote in the bill."
Wyden said he stands by his vote and the only way to get the economy started again is to get money into the banks directly.
