New police station recalls Harms way

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Hundreds of people packed the new Springfield Justice Center for a dedication ceremony honoring Edward C. Harms, Jr.

Harms served as the Springfield Mayor and City Attorney in the 1950s and 60s. He also taught law at the University of Oregon.

Harms died in 2005.

His daughter, Kim Weston, told the crowd that the dedication will carry on her father's legacy of justice and civic duty. Voter-approved Measure 20-91 provided the funding for the $28 million facility.
