Eugene woman dead after crash on Hwy 99

EUGENE, Ore. - A 23-year-old Eugene woman is dead after her SUV crashed on Highway 99 Sunday morning.

The force of the crash took out several trees and destroyed a fire hydrant.

Police said the woman was driving northbound in a green Toyota 4-Runner when she hit the hydrant.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was thrown out the sunroof of her car. According to police, she died at the scene.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of Highway 99 between Royal and Fairfield for several hours.
