EUGENE, Ore. -- All power to a Lane County government building went down Monday, affecting computer-assisted dispatching of firefighters and police in Eugene, Springfield and Lane County.

"We can still receive 911 calls and we can still dispatch crews by radio, so there is no imminent danger to the community," said Glenn Potter with the Eugene Fire Department during the outage. "We're going to have to do it the old fashioned way."

All county employees were sent home for the day, although the sheriff's office and the county assessment and taxation staff remained on duty. Today was the last day to drop off property taxes.

A backup generator did not appear to be functioning correctly, according to Amber Fossen with Lane County.

Power was restored before 11 p.m.
