Two banks robbed Monday in Eugene, Ore.
By KVAL Web StaffEUGENE, Ore. -- Robbers hit two downtown Eugene, Ore., bank branches Monday, the latest in a trend of aggressive robberies of banks and businesses. First, a masked man claiming to be armed with an explosive device robbed the Oregon Community Credit Union branch on East 11th Avenue around 9 a.m.
That bank robber (shown at right) is described as a white male about 40–45 years old. He was about 5’7” to 5’10” tall with a slender to medium build. He had a lean face with light brown or dark blond facial stubble. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a collared, zip-up, dark-colored jacket over a plaid shirt, unknown pants, sunglasses and a dark-colored knit hat. The suspect in the earlier case at the credit union wore a mask and was about 6 feet tall with a medium build. Police say there are "striking similarities" between Monay's credit union robbery and three others committed by one suspect. In those robberies, a masked man who threatened he had a bomb robbed Eugene banks in August, September and November. The robberies are the latest in a string of aggressive robberies of banks and businesses in Eugene, Ore. Roughly three times as many robberies of banks and businesses have been reported since Sept. 1, 2008, than during the same time period in 2007. |
