MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Lakeview man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for a marijuana manufacturing and conspiracy conviction.

Federal prosecutors said 40-year-old Andrew True Stever was behind the largest marijuana growing operation ever found in remote Lake County, which borders on California and Nevada.

Police and federal agents seized 7,459 marijuana plants growing on Stever's property in July 2007.

Federal law imposes a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years for anyone convicted of growing 1,000 or more marijuana plants.
