Parking banned on major Eugene streets
This is a press release courtesy of the City of Eugene
The City of Eugene has reinstated an ice/snow emergency route parking ban, effective immediately. The ban means all vehicles must be removed immediately from designated snow emergency routes.
The Public Works Department reinstated the parking ban due to snow and ice that has accumulated since early Thursday evening.
Typically, emergency routes are collectors, arterials, and bus routes.
Parking is banned on red, blue and green roads on the map below:

Road conditions and plowing plans
City ordinance gives the City the authority to tow vehicles parked or stranded along emergency routes. By banning parking, the City is able to ensure that emergency vehicles, buses, and other essential traffic can move safely around town, and that parked and stalled vehicles do not hamper snow removal operation.
Public Works lifted the ban Thursday morning after almost four days of round-the-clock snow removal operations and above-freezing temperatures melted the ice on all but higher-elevation streets in south Eugene. However, when temperatures dropped below freezing and snow began to fall Thursday evening, Public Works reopened its emergency command center and worked through the night plowing, sanding and applying deicer to priority snow routes.
As of 8 a.m. today, all of Eugene's ice-and-snow equipment is in operation, and priority one routes - major arterials such as River Road, Chambers Street and Sixth and Seventh avenues - have been sanded. Crews are making repeat passes with sanding trucks to provide traction for the morning commute.
The parking ban will remain in effect until further notification.
