MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. - A woman reported missing late last year from the McKenzie Bridge area east of Eugene was found dead Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Search crews found the body of 25-year-old Chelsea Diamond Fernandez about 1.5 miles from where she disappeared on Dec. 28, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

Fernandez, who lived in Vida, was in the area visiting friends in McKenzie Bridge at the time. She was last seen walking on a spur road in second growth forest, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators do not suspect foul play, but the death remained under investigation Sunday, the sheriff's office said.

They did not say what they believe killed her.

More than 30 people participated in the search, including volunteers from Eugene Mountain Rescue and Ground Search and Rescue as well as U.S. Forest Service employees, K-9 search dogs from Marion County and the Lane County Sheriff's helicopter.
