ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Police are investigating the possibility that the man charged with kidnapping a 10-year-old girl off a residential street in Eugene last week may have tried to attack a female in a downtown Roseburg business last week.

Malcolm Gerlach, 25, was arrested in Eugene last week after witnesses told police he forced a 10-year-old girl into his vehicle, which was reported stolen.

He was caught a short time later after a high speed chase.

Gerlach had been arrested in Coos County after police say he stole a car from Douglas County and crashed on Highway 42 near Coos Bay. He was cited and released from that county.

Police say they're now investigating the possibility that he was the one that entered Formally Yours in downtown Roseburg and tried to force a female employee into an upstairs room.
