Friends say goodbye to crash victim Heather Mulgrave
By Molly Blancett KVAL NewsEUGENE, Ore. - By all accounts, Heather Mulgrave was more than a dance teacher, a co-worker and a friend: she was also an inspiration. "Every single thing she did was about creating community," said her friend Paula May. "You gave your students every part of your physical body by teaching them dance and gave them a part of your soul by teaching them about respecting themselves first and building their self esteem," said Lindsey Shields. Mulgrave's friends described her as vibrant, beautiful inside and out, energetic and the biggest fan of the musician Prince. Friends say they're comforted by at least one part of the tragedy: the fact that Jakobi, Heather's son, survived the crash. "He is Heather's bright shining star and I am confident that he will be the miracle to come out of this tragedy," said Lauri Quinby. Heather's legacy will not only live on in him but also in everyone she touched. "Thank you for your love so fair," said Quinby. "When our dance is over we'll see you there." In that same spirit, her students did just what Heather would have wanted. They danced, this time with slightly heavier hearts. Jakobi Mulgrave is listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. |
