EUGENE, Ore - A lot of cereals offer prizes found inside the box. But one brand's surprise has to do with a phone number printed on the outside.

"Do you love sex? Who doesn't?" asks the voice on the other end of Peace cereal's customer service line. "Isn't that why you called?"

"I think that's pretty funny," says Chaun Hubbard of Eugene's Friendly Street Market. "I mean that should be a joke for a standup comedian or something."

Peace Cereal, owned by Eugene company Golden Temple has some explaining to do. The 800 number listed on the box for questions or concerns about the brand takes callers to a recorded woman on the other end, offering another sort of service.
'
"If I'm calling the company with a question and I get a sex line, for me that would be really funny," says Mario Tucci of Friendly Street Market.

The sex line number was orginally printed on all "Peace" cereal flavors. Golden Temple reps tell us they first heard of the mishap in december and says it's just one big typo. They have since been working to fix it.

Spokeswoman Elissa Brown says, "We're a small company and we do our best to ensure everything is accurate. But there is human error. We don't want anyone to take it the wrong way"

Browns tells us the company has ordered new packaging and boxes with the correct number. Those have been filtering in to stores over the past few weeks. She says it could take weeks or possibly months for stores to be stocked with only correct boxes.
