Family says kids bullied; school remains mum
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Josh Beaty said he has been beat up and repeatedly bullied at Oaklea Middle School. He said he was once put in a choke hold and thrown against a brick wall.
His twin sister Christina said she is also bullied. She said someone kicked her and punched her during school hours and it's been going on ever since she moved to Junction City three years ago. Their mom, Deborah Babcock, said the school doesn't investigate reports of bullying enough.
KVAL News shot the interview with the Beatys more than three weeks ago. Since then, KVAL News has been trying to set up an interview to talk to Oaklea Principal Tom Endersby. He never returned her call.
On Friday, KVAL News gave the district another chance to tell their side of the story. Still, no one would comment on the situation.
The Junction City School District uses computer software to track bullying. KVAL News can't get information without sending in a formal public records request. KVAL News initiated the request on Friday.
Christina said she is too scared to go to school, so she's being home schooled. Josh has a learning disability and needs special teaching. He said he is staying at Oaklea at least until the end of the year.
