EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A 22-year-old Eugene man sobbed and apologized to the family of a woman he killed last July in a drunk-driving crash near Blachly.

Judge Cynthia Carlson sentenced Ricky Lee Gunderson to the mandatory 75 months in prison Thursday in the death of 47-year-old Cheryl Ann MacNeil.

The Register-Guard newspaper reported that through his tears Gunderson told MacNeil's family and friends he was sorry for the loss he had caused.

Prosecutors said tests showed his blood-alcohol level just over the legal limit when his pickup crossed the center line and collided with MacNeil's car.

Gunderson pleaded guilty last month to second-degree manslaughter, assault and driving under the influence.
