EUGENE, Ore - The 2009 Eugene Marathon kicked off Sunday morning with crowds of supporters. Fans cheered for hours to give the runners the boost they needed to endure the race.
There were yellers, hand clappers, bell ringers and even a triangle player. A live band accompanied these noisemakers to encourage the runners.
People found creative ways to show their support for the marathon participants. South Eugene High school marked the 8th mile of the marathon and a designated Cheer Zone.
