Protect your bike from thieves
EUGENE, Ore - Protect yourself from bicycle thieves. Here’s what the Eugene Police Department suggest:
1. Lock your bike up --- Use as many locks as possible to help withstand theft.
2. Keep track of your serial number.
3. Put your driver’s license number on your bike so if it is recovered the owner is known.
4. Register your bike at one of EPD’s sub stations.
EPD says they recover nearly 400 bikes a year. But only one out of six of those are returned to their rightful owners because most aren't known. Registering your bike will help keep you property in the right hands.
