Mom gives up Mother's Day to help other mothers
EUGENE, Ore -- She has an infectious giggle and a warm embrace. Bambi Pancoast radiates joy and happiness. But under all that love, a huge transition looms.
"I'm going through a divorce," said Bambi. "I'm getting educated so I can get myself started on a new career."
Her one request for Mothers Day was a picture with her son Josh before he moves to Klamath Falls. Enter Aloma Calacin. She is also a mother. She's donated her time and passion to taking pictures of low income and homeless women on Mothers Day. It's a simple act with a profound reaction.
The picture brought Bambi to tears.
"It's just been a long time," said Bambi. "So it's really nice. I'm just glad we did it."
Aloma said she got the idea at an unexpected time in her life.
"I got this overwhelming feeling to give something back," said Aloma. "I was like, 'I don't have anything right now. I'm starting over with my two babies.' The idea came and then everything kind of fell into place. All the supplies have been donated. I had more than enough."
Clutching each other and the picture, Bambi and Josh were on their way. So while a picture might say thousand words, in this case, it has also triggered a thousand tears.
