Petworking! It's the Cats Pajamas

Tools

EUGENE, Ore. --- It's the cats meow, the cats pajamas and (insert cute animal phrase here)!

"It's been a great tool for us." Cary Lieberman at Greenhill Humane Society said using the internet has cut wait times for pets from about 30 days to less than two weeks.

It works just like the social networking websites we are all familiar with. A dog or cat's profile consists of their photo, name, age, breed, temperament, and even their likes and dislikes!

"People want to know personality, they want to know if the animals are trained...what they like, what they don't like." Lieberman said.

The profiles give away any potential red flags, a potential owner might have. Lieberman said, "People can get a real vision of how the animal is, without actually visiting."

Sort of remind you of something else?

"It's sort of the information you'd want if you were going on a blind date." Lieberman said, "It's like a first date."

Even their websites are really similar to "people" networking websites like Facebook or MySpace. There is even a tool where you can view other pets at the same shelter.

And just like with dating, you still have to eventually meet, to see if there is a connection. Lieberman said Greenhill Humane Society's goal is still just to get pets into homes, as soon as possible.
